Shaping Visions into Reality

MUNICIPAL PROJECTS

Featured Projects:

Brian Head:

Bingham Engineering has provided municipal engineering services for Brian Head Town, a rapidly growing mountain resort community located in Southern Utah.  Together, Brian Head Town and Bingham Engineering have constructed 2 new culinary water tanks and drilled new culinary wells, completed a water resource development project and developed a source protection plan for existing springs and wells.  We have also constructed new roads and rebuilt old roads, resolved controversial water rights issues, extended water and sewer services and built new pedestrian and biking trails.  A new land use master plan was completed which developed a core area concept and design guidelines for new development.  In addition, several new subdivisions were developed, legal descriptions and easements created, existing ordinances revised, a town maintenance facility constructed and wetland issues resolved.  Several of the projects have included state-assisted funding and all projects have required interaction and coordination with the elected and appointed officials.

Grantsville City:

Bingham Engineering has provided water, sewage and land use master planning for Grantsville City for several years.  As a part of the water master plan Bingham Engineering designed and constructed a 1,000,000-gallon reinforced concrete culinary water storage reservoir, including transmission and distribution system improvements.  The scope of work included computer modeling of the existing system, evaluation of existing water sources, and review of the city master land use plan.  Bingham was also responsible for recommending future pressure zones, tank, well and pipeline design, and prioritizing a systematic replacement of all sub-standard lines within the city.  Improvements included new distribution piping, multiple pressure reducing stations, booster pump station, refitting an existing culinary well, drilling and equipping a new culinary well, construction of a new 1,000,000 gallon tank and comprehensive construction management.   A radio-based SCADA system was also designed and configured to integrate control and monitoring functions for the culinary water and waste water treatment systems.  In addition to the improvements, Bingham Engineering provided site survey for the tank location, prepared the deed and all necessary easements, assisted Grantsville in obtaining financing, and conducted a geotechnical investigation for the project.

Riverton Secondary Water System:

Riverton City desired to implement a secondary water system to utilize irrigation waters that historically irrigated much of the land in Riverton.  The secondary water system was also seen as a tool to maximize the culinary water system, and to preserve water resources for future growth and development.  Bingham Engineering was part of the Newman Design-Build Team that was awarded the contract for the secondary system.  The Newman team was selected because of the innovative approach and engineering solutions they proposed.  The Newman team and Riverton City was awarded the Governor’s Medal of Science and Technology because of the innovative approach to the project and the affect it will have on water conservation.  Bingham Engineering was responsible to design two holding ponds (combined storage of 100 acre-feet), four pump stations and development of three wells.  Bingham Engineering suggested a ‘horizontal well’ near the Jordan River, which resulted in a well capable of producing four-times as much water as the vertical wells in the same area.  This project began delivering water in the summer of 2000, and the entire system was completed in 2001.
